Our Team

Partnership with School & Colleges

We are passionate about the relationships we have fostered with local schools and colleges and the ability this gives us to offer meaningful community benefit initiatives. Working with different education departments allows us to engage with future generations of talent, providing insights into the construction industry.

We have a robust Work Experience Programme in place which allows us to incorporate ‘Work Placement’ opportunities into all our projects. We work in partnership with Ayrshire College, Glasgow Clyde College, and Dumfries and Galloway College, to offer office-based and site-based work experience to students within the Built Environment.

We frequently visit schools within the regions we operate, to engage with students via the following methods: Site visits, STEM activities, mock interviews and career fairs.

We run our annual Construction Partnership Project, in collaboration with Belmont Academy and Ayrshire College. This event sees students from Belmont Academy take part in a six-week project, where they are challenged to design a proposed layout for a housing development. The Project develops students’ understanding of both trade and professional roles within the industry and awards them with a Dynamic Youth Award, vocational qualification at SCQF Level 3.

Local Community Projects

Fundamental to the success of our social value targets is the creation of initiatives which are bespoke and bring the most benefit to the local communities we are working in. These initiatives can take many different forms such as:

We have several charity partners who we regularly support through donations of time, money, and materials. As part of our social value commitments, we also support charity partners of our clients.

As part of our sustainability policy, we endeavor to donate all surplus materials from completed projects to local community groups, such as the ‘Mens Shed’ and ‘Community Payback’ teams. This helps us to recycle and reuse materials from building projects to help minimise energy consumption and waste production.

We like to regularly attend meet the buyer sessions, held by local authorities and frameworks across Scotland, to network with the organisations working in our area. Our Approved Supply Chain enables smaller and more local businesses to have opportunities to tender for work.

Business Partnerships

Over the years we have found great importance in strengthening and nurturing our relationships with nearby businesses to facilitate successful social value initiatives.

We have close working relationships with the Developing Young Workforce (DYW) within the regions that we operate, including Ayrshire, the Central Belt and Dumfries & Galloway. We are long-standing affiliates of the Young Persons Guarantee scheme and regularly attend DYW led events. Through our relationship with the Ayrshire DYW, we also work closely with and are members of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce.

Our community team work alongside MCR Pathways, via their mentoring programme, to support care experienced young people, within North Ayrshire, reach a positive destination when they ready to leave school.

Recruitment & Training

We have an enviable and comprehensive recruitment and training programme which includes our apprenticeship programme. Our commitment not only extends to meeting the social value targets but ensuring the benefit lasts. We ensure this does not stop at onboarding by creating a culture that prioritises promoting internally and identifying key moments for career advancement in our organisation.

We have a strong commitment and take pride in our year-on-year trade and professional apprenticeship programme. At Ashleigh, we nurture talent and help individuals fulfil their potential for continued growth and progression in their careers.

We support the learning and development of all our employees, encouraging our personnel to strive to be their best as we continue to invest and support them through our Strategic Training Plan. Our plan helps to clearly display all staff and what training is a requirement for their role. Furthermore, our Training Matrix then constantly tracks each staff member individually, ensuring training is in date and suggest supplementary non required training to allow for further professional development.
